Description

Spaghetti Boats Recipe is a delightful twist on traditional spaghetti, where flavorful meat sauce and pasta are baked inside hoagie rolls until the cheese is melted and bubbly, creating a fun and delicious meal for the whole family.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Spaghetti Filling:

  • 4 small hoagie rolls or sub rolls
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1/2 small yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
  • 6 ounces cooked spaghetti
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For Topping:

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Hoagie Rolls: Cut a V-shaped wedge out of the top of each hoagie roll and remove some bread inside to create space for the filling. Toast the rolls in the oven for 5 minutes.
  3. Cook the Filling: In a skillet, heat olive oil and cook ground beef until browned. Add onion, garlic, marinara sauce, cooked spaghetti, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Fill the Rolls: Fill each toasted roll with the spaghetti mixture.
  5. Add Toppings: Top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can use leftover spaghetti for this recipe.
  • Try using garlic bread hoagie rolls for extra flavor, or swap in turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter option.
