Ingredients
Scale
Egg Mixture:
- 4 large eggs
- ¾ cup whole milk
- ½ cup pumpkin purée
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
- pinch of salt
Additional:
- 8 slices brioche or challah bread (about ¾-inch thick)
- butter or oil for cooking
- maple syrup and powdered sugar for serving
Instructions
- Egg Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, pumpkin purée, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt until smooth.
- Cooking: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil. Dip each slice of bread into the pumpkin mixture, letting it soak for a few seconds on each side. Place soaked bread on the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serving: Repeat with remaining slices. Serve warm with maple syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar.
Notes
- Day-old bread works best as it holds up better during soaking.
- You can add chopped pecans or a dollop of whipped cream for extra flair.
