Cookies:

Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms. Fold in the chopped pecans.
- Bake: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and place on the prepared baking sheets. Flatten slightly with your fingers or the bottom of a glass. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Make icing: Melt 1/2 cup butter in a small saucepan over medium heat until golden brown. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Whisk with powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust milk for consistency.
- Ice the cookies: Spread or drizzle icing over completely cooled cookies.
