- 4 medium russet potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

- Preheat and Prep: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Cook ground beef and onion until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Layer Potatoes and Beef: Place half of the potatoes in the baking dish, top with half of the beef mixture, and repeat layers.
- Prepare Sauce: Whisk together cream of mushroom soup and milk. Pour over the casserole.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 50–60 minutes. Remove foil, add cheese, and bake uncovered for 10–15 minutes more.
- Rest and Serve: Let it rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
