For the Chocolate Cake:
- 1 box (18 oz) chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
For the Cheesecake Filling:
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups cold heavy cream
For the Chocolate Pudding Layer:
- 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk

- 1 cup crushed chocolate cookies or brownies (optional)
- Chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips for garnish
Instructions
- Bake the Chocolate Cake: Prepare and bake the chocolate cake according to the package instructions in a 9×13-inch pan. Allow it to cool completely, then cut or crumble into small cubes.
- Make the Cheesecake Filling: In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, mix until well combined. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture to create a light cheesecake filling.
- Prepare the Chocolate Pudding: In another bowl, whisk the chocolate pudding mix with cold milk for 2 minutes until thickened.
- Assemble the Trifle: Layer half of the chocolate cake cubes in the bottom of a large trifle bowl or individual jars. Top with half of the cheesecake mixture, then half of the chocolate pudding. Sprinkle with crushed cookies or brownie bits if desired. Repeat the layers once more. Finish with a final layer of cheesecake topping and garnish with chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
