Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients:
- 3 pounds chicken wings (split and tips removed)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- ½ cup barbecue sauce or hot sauce (for tossing or serving)
Instructions
- Preheat the Grill: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 375–400°F).
- Season the Wings: In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, and cayenne if using.
- Grill the Wings: Place the wings on the grill in a single layer. Grill with the lid closed for 20–25 minutes, turning every 5–7 minutes, until the wings are crispy and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Finish with Sauce: For extra flavor, baste with barbecue or hot sauce during the last 5 minutes of grilling.
- Rest and Serve: Remove from the grill and let rest for a few minutes before serving. Serve with additional sauce if desired.
Notes
- For extra-crispy wings, pat them dry with paper towels before seasoning.
- You can also smoke the wings at a lower temp (225°F) for 1.5–2 hours, then finish over high heat to crisp.
