Apples:
- 2 large Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, and cut into 8 wedges each)
Dough:
- 2 (8 oz) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
Sauce:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 (12 oz) can lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite or 7UP)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Prepare the dumplings: Wrap each apple wedge in a crescent roll triangle. Place in the baking dish.
- Make the sauce: Melt butter in a saucepan, add sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour over the dumplings. Pour soda around the dumplings.
- Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Serve: Let cool slightly and serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Granny Smith apples work best but Honeycrisp or Fuji can be substituted.
- For added flavor, sprinkle chopped pecans or nutmeg over the top before baking.
