Ground Beef Mixture:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Seasonings:
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
Optional Addition:
- 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
Instructions
- Brown the Beef: In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease and transfer the beef to the slow cooker.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, ketchup, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, cayenne (if using), brown sugar, and kidney beans if desired. Stir everything together until well combined.
- Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Serve: Serve the chili hot over hot dogs with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, diced onions, or jalapeños.
Notes
- For a thicker chili, reduce the beef broth by half.
- If you prefer a spicier version, add extra cayenne or chopped fresh chili peppers.
- This chili can also be served on fries, nachos, or baked potatoes.
