Indulge in the whimsical flavors of the carnival with this Cotton Candy Popcorn recipe. Sweet, crunchy popcorn coated in a sugary cotton candy glaze is a delightful treat that will transport you straight to the fair.

Ingredients

Scale

Popcorn:

  • 10 cups plain popped popcorn

Cotton Candy Coating:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon cotton candy flavoring (or raspberry/vanilla as a substitute)
  • Pink and/or blue gel food coloring (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Popcorn: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Place popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl, removing any unpopped kernels.
  2. Make Cotton Candy Coating: In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, butter, and salt. Boil without stirring until it reaches 235–240°F.
  3. Coat Popcorn: Remove from heat, add flavoring and coloring, pour over popcorn, and toss to coat. Spread on baking sheet.
  4. Cool and Serve: Let popcorn cool for 20–30 minutes, then break into clusters and serve.
