Description

These delicious Cheeseburger Pockets feature savory ground beef mixed with cheddar cheese and seasonings, all wrapped in flaky biscuit dough and baked to golden perfection. Perfect for a kid-friendly dinner or an easy meal on the go, these pockets offer classic cheeseburger flavors in a convenient handheld form.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup (optional)

Dough and Toppings

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough or pizza dough (8 pieces)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the pockets later.
  2. Cook Beef Mixture: In a medium skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and finely chopped onion. Cook together for about 7 to 8 minutes until the beef is browned and fully cooked, stirring occasionally. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. Season Beef: Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper to the cooked beef and onion. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  4. Add Cheese and Optional Sauces: Mix the shredded cheddar cheese into the warm beef mixture. If you like, add mustard or ketchup for extra flavor and stir well.
  5. Prepare Dough: Flatten each biscuit or dough piece on a clean surface into circles approximately 4 to 5 inches in diameter using your hands or a rolling pin.
  6. Fill Pockets: Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the beef and cheese mixture into the center of each dough round.
  7. Seal Pockets: Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape or a fully enclosed pocket. Press the edges firmly with a fork to seal them tightly and prevent leaks during baking.
  8. Prepare for Baking: Place the sealed pockets on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the tops lightly with the beaten egg for a glossy finish and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  9. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 13 to 16 minutes, or until the dough turns golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the pockets cool slightly to avoid burning when eating. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • You can use pre-made pizza dough and cut it into larger squares for bigger pockets.
  • Add diced pickles or cooked bacon into the filling for extra flavor and texture.
  • Serve with dipping sauces such as burger sauce, ketchup, ranch, or mustard to enhance the experience.
  • For a crispier crust, brush with butter instead of egg wash before baking.
