Description

These Burrito Skulls are a fun and spooky twist on traditional burritos, perfect for Halloween parties or themed dinners. Taco-seasoned ground beef, beans, and cheese are baked inside skull-shaped dough, creating a delicious and festive meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Ground Beef Mixture:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 (1-ounce) packet taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup canned refried beans (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese

Dough:

  • 1 (8-ounce) can crescent roll dough or refrigerated biscuit dough

For Serving:

  • Nonstick spray
  • Sour cream
  • Salsa
  • Guacamole

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray a skull-shaped baking mold or muffin tin with nonstick spray.
  2. Cook the beef: Brown the ground beef and onion in a skillet, then add taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 3–4 minutes, stir in refried beans if using, and let cool slightly.
  3. Prepare the dough: Unroll crescent or biscuit dough, press seams together, and cut into 6 pieces. Press one piece into each mold cavity.
  4. Fill and bake: Spoon beef mixture into each cavity, top with cheese, fold dough over filling, and bake for 15–18 minutes until golden.
  5. Serve: Let cool, then carefully remove from molds. Serve warm with sour cream, salsa, or guacamole.

Notes

  • For a spooky effect, brush the dough with oil before baking for enhanced browning.
  • These burrito skulls freeze well and can be reheated for quick Halloween meals or snacks.
